I've got a Seagate Barracuda 250GB SATA hard drive and some Samsung DVD burner that no longer appears on their website (though the manual is still available for download). took out my Visiontek RadeonX1300 on the agp put in a old Radeon 8500 LE Vista installed without a hitch. I have the same Inspiron 1720 and disabling AHCI worked perfectly!
