I have done everything in the first link except maybe enabling ssl2 in IE, I can't remember if I did that. Had to choose restore option in the repair screen. I spent many frustrating hours trying all kinds of solutions including the ones recommended by Microsoft to no avail until I came across some notes I took and tried the fix Thanks so much! just went into change update settings, Clicked OK (did not change any settings), and it fixed issue below. That was the fastest fix I've seen yet.
