I'm sorry I'm not able to be more helpful here. Couldn't synchronize time using the clock utility. I have tried to delete the EPG folder, switch off the guide, reboot, switch it on again, and update: same error. Windows 7 Media Center Guide Not Updating
Apparently, that was suppose to be fixed. If you connect through a LAN, ensure that your proxy or firewall has been properly configured. I have already gone down the route of deleting the exisiting EPG and settings from the My Documents folder and whilst it is okay for a few days, it soon starts

Why is it that synchronization through "Internet Time" almost always fails with time.windows.com through MCE (and ONLY on my MCE machine) and almost never fails through time.nist.gov? Normally that can be solved by repairing/reinstalling Update Rollup 2 for Media Center 2005 and then repairing/reinstalling the latest update rollup you have installed (either KB908250 or KB912067). I have to update through dial-up, and even that fails at times, but here is the point that is seemingly being ignored.
